Who Are We?

The Kalamon Institute for Arabic Language is a language school with a focus on Arabic. The institute was founded in 2017. Our team consists of diverse individuals, all of whom share a passion for the Arabic language, art, and music. Our teachers are all native speakers and trained as teachers of Arabic as a foreign language. We emphasize not only teaching the language but also making the culture, music, and art accessible to both children and adults.

Kalamon represents a unique language school in Berlin, as it systematically teaches not only Modern Standard Arabic but also a variety of dialects such as Syrian, Palestinian, and Egyptian both on-site and online. The institute offers two internationally recognized certificates for the Arabic language: CIMA (Modern Standard Arabic) from the Institut du monde arabe (Institute of the Arab World, Paris) and the ALEF certificate from the Free University of Brussels (VUB).

We look forward to continuing to enrich you with our wide range of courses and diverse activities.

Our Philosophy!

We believe that the diversity, variety, and openness of the Arabic language and culture should be appropriately appreciated. At our institution, we teach both standard Arabic and various dialects because they complement each other and do not contradict. Our goal is to convey the language in its authentic vitality, as it is used in daily life. Our teaching methods are based on a personal relationship with our students, making the lessons an enriching experience, comparable to a friendly gathering among friends.

In our view, cultural, social, and artistic activities are essential to fully understand the Arabic language.

Why Learn Arabic?

Arabic is one of the most widely-spoken languages in the world, one of the languages of the United Nations and an official language in 22 countries. No wonder that Arabic can also be heard frequently in Germany – and knowledge of the language can be applied accordingly. Whether ordering shawarma in your favorite restaurant, working with refugees, or just for fun – it’s worth taking the step and learning Arabic. You have many choices for the language, from learning one of the many dialects, to learning classic Arabic, for work-related purposes  or just for the sake of learning a new language.
